Myself and three neighbours instructed Williams and Co to act on our behalf to draft a shared access agreement concerning some gates. The draft work was carried out quickly and efficiently for which we were all very pleased. HOWEVER, I sold my house before the agreement was finalised. In order to not delay the sale I agreed with my purchasers that it would be best the agreement was signed by them once they took ownership. I drafted a letter of intent which the purchasers also signed to put aside any fear for the neighbours we were leaving behind. When one of my neighbours voiced their concerns to Williams they went behind my back, contacted my estate agents, demanded the name of the solicitor handling my house sale and then went on to jeopardise my transaction. Having taken legal advice on this matter it would appear that Williams should have declared they could no longer act on all of our best interests and declined further involvement. I’ve notified the Solicitors Regulatory Authority and the Legal Ombudsman who will be investigating this matter further. So be warned because Williams & Co took my money and therefore should have been acting for me NOT against me!!
