I decided to use Easthams for the conveyancing on my new house as I was impressed with them after using them for the sale of my old house the previous year. Unfortunately this time round I was really disappointed. Jenny caused us a lot of unnecessary stress and we almost lost our house due to her lack of communication with the developers whom we were buying from. She simply didn’t respond to their communication and in the end she had to ask for so many deadline extensions that they basically said if it didn’t happen on the final agreed date then we wouldn’t be able to proceed. Their comments were that they have never dealt with such a difficult Solicitor before. We handed our completed paperwork in over 6 weeks before we were due to exchange contracts but it was only the afternoon before the deadline that Jenny decided to look at our file and raise lots of queries with us. By this time it was too late to ask the seller to add certain terns into their contract, so we had no choice but to exchange despite certain risks still outstanding. It was either this or lose the house that we have waited a year to be built. Thankfully Adele assisted with the completion so it went smoothly, but I think this was probably down to the fact that I had raised my concerns about Jenny’s communication and attitude so they were trying to make amends.
