If you want your Divorce to be handled in an efficient friendly speedy manner, in my experience, this is not the place to go.I was the respondent in the Divorce, however the result cost me significantly less than I had offered my ex wife in mediation some 2 years previous, therefore this is not a ‘sour grapes’ review. This is based on my experienceFrom the start Ms Dugdale showed herself to be less than efficient. ( I should say at this juncture, I represented myself, this may have had a bearing on the way this case progressed in the manner it did ,with several unwarranted and not carried out, threats of Court action.)I was told by my ex wife, I would receive a Divorce petition in July /September 2017, also that she had instructed Ms Dugdale to represent her. These papers did not arrive in a reasonable time, so I contacted Ms Dugdale, due to the fact that I wanted to seek legal advice just on a ‘as required’ basis.I was informed several times via email, that the papers would be filed with the Court within days/within the week. This was not the case.I actually copied Ms Dugdale in on a reply from the Court stating papers had not been submitted. After several requests to Ms Dugdale, eventually on Dec 4th, an envelope containing the petition was delivered to my home address. It was in an unsealed envelope without a stamp/Postage mark on it,it was delivered some hours after my normal postal delivery, read into that what you will!I took the Divorce Petition to a local Solicitor for advice, after reading the 27 reasons behind ‘unreasonable’ behaviour she started laughing. She apologised for this, stating she had never seen such a ridiculous Petition document / accompanying reasons. Who had completed the Petition I know not. This set the standard for the following 18 months, from being sent intimidating letters, threatening unwarranted court action,( none of which were followed up on) to a total lack of response to my replies to her correspondence. I was forced to hurriedly compile Form E’s in February 2018 days prior to a holiday with my children, only for Ms Dugdale to fail to answer correspondence requesting a date to exchange these!Letters sent to me contained legal jargon or TLA’s ( three letter abbreviations) which contained no clarification as to the meaning behind them, this forced me to seek legal advice for clarificationWe finally reached the stage where we exchanged Form E’s, I agreed the contents along with the suggested way forward.I did however ask for extra time to seek legal advice in relation to my pension. The response was a Court date ! Her lack of preparation was apparent throughout every stage, everything was all last minute or lacking detail. There seemed to be no strategy behind her handling of this case. By this time, I had no other choice, but to instruct a legal representative.Several times they had to correct Ms Dugdale’s file/Court paperwork completion in relation to standard or accepted wording. Finally after nearly 3 1/2 years, my Divorce is complete, I am more than happy with the result, but this time delay was unnecessary, the manner in which it was dealt with in my opinion was not justifiable, it was confrontational to say the least. It is not only the Solicitors duty to complete her/his work with due diligence, but also to advise the client. It may well be that my ex wife ignored all advice given, or perhaps the advice given was substandard,I cannot say which is the case hereIn 31 years of dealing with legal professionals, both in civil and criminal cases, I can say I have never had dealings like this one. From a lack of preparation to unwarranted threats of Court action, followed by a lack of response or even the courtesy of acknowledgements/ read receipts. In addition to the above, my ex-wife has told our children she was less than impressed with her Ms Dugdale, which speaks volumes in my opinion,Maybe she will also write an honest review
If you want
If you want the first communications from this “solicitors” about your property sale to actually be wrong in that they show the estate agent’s address as your property you are selling, add in missed quotations, delays, awful customer service and rude responses when you speak to them, then this is the firm for you! There is a saying “You get what you pay for” this could never be more apt for this company, as they are cheap … and that is because they are rubbish!
